THE STORY:

As a reclusive, idealistic artist, what you fear the most is destruction: both of noble ideals and the beautiful world that inspires you so.

That's why you are happy to serve the most cultured and strongest of kingdoms, which tries to defend its smaller allies with fiery determination.

Painting the pictures of your kingdom's glorious past, and being sheltered from reality by the King himself, you consider its everlasting dynasty to be the noblest ever born.

And you'd live in ignorance for much longer, if not for meeting your Prince and his terrible friends, which proved to you one thing:

Your beloved alliance is a comical world of corruption filled with the maddest, most foolish and selfish creatures imaginable.

So, was your faith in these noble royals a mistake?

One of the royal artists of Whiteleir Kingdom, protagonist of this story.

A shy, patriotic young man with a passionate belief in his Kingdom's mission of upholding peace. 

He considers his homeland the only place truly loyal to the ideals of nobility.

And it makes sense - it's the only known Kingdom whose founding dynasty 

only absorbed other clans but never changed and avoided warring with other nations for many centuries.

Being incredibly thankful to the King for the support of his paintings and not knowing much about the current world because of his old-fashioned beliefs, he prefers to live in the world of imagination - to the point of being ignorant and slightly prejudiced.

Aka Manfred Whiteleir Jr., Son of Manfred Whiteleir the 3rd,  King of  the protagonist's homeland

While aristocratic circles paint a picture of him as someone who continues his handsome and diplomatic father's legacy, he is actually a shockingly snobbish and arrogant young man,  unpleasant both inside and out.

A self-proclaimed 'history lover' and 'Whiteleir's biggest patriot ever', he seems to be in disagreement with his father about something important, which causes him to hate the King with passion.

Even looking definitely unhealthy, he possesses an unusual dose of life power and deadpan charisma which wins some people over despite everything.

Manfred's oldest friend and closest confidant, who seems to provide some wit and mental challenge to the Prince without outshining him or insisting on his own superiority.

Despite his Kingdom's reputation of being fearsome, he keeps in the shadow, showing modesty and asceticism that is more typical for a commoner than a prince.

That would make him seem almost saint-like, if not for his gift for lying and unexpected physical strength that hint at his true nature being much rougher than he shows.

Growing up in his faraway homeland and only knowing about other kingdoms through adventure novels his father allowed him to read, he is charmingly enthusiastic yet absolutely clueless.

That's why he constantly seeks 'guidance' and 'advice' from others, most notably Manfred himself, who patronizes him as some kind of 'pet'.

While most of his antics can be dismissed as childish and even considered cute, sometimes one can't help feeling there is more to him than meets the eye.

Nephew of allied King Emil Sanguine

The only prince in Manfred's circle who actually experienced  war, he is prone to cynicism and doesn't hold back when it comes to his opinion of all present.

Denying all noble ideals as unimportant, he instead tries to imitate average soldiers in their primitive mannerisms and attitudes. 

This, combined with his love of shocking remarks and alcohol, can make him a brilliant jokester but also an incredibly obnoxious person.

Reveling in his apparent 'corruption', he supposedly 'doesn't care about anything anymore', which sounds both tragic and slightly naïve.

DEMO F.A.Q

How much of the finished game is within the demo?

Very little, about 1% percent. It is not even a considerable part of the main route. And there are still 4 character routes, which are slightly longer than the main.

How well-tested is the game?

This demo is still in development stage. It was tested on a very basic level so please consider it before playing. Can absolutely be slightly buggy and contain typos or  grammar mistakes. Please notify me about the bugs or mistakes you encounter in the comments. 

Will the finished game have music?

YES. But the demo won't have a soundtrack because before finishing universal character themes that will play throughout the game, the main route and four character routes must be finalized.

How much romance can we expect later, in the finished game?

(Beware of very light spoilers below)

There is a small  romantic element to basically all routes but it's additional to the main plot of these routes which isn't romance (and romance there also can be avoided, for the most part).  Be warned, what each character defines as 'romance' also may vary, and considering the shocking political events they are involved in, this may mean...many unexpected revelations for you. Depending on what kind of person you are, these dramatic events may delight or horrify you.   This isn't a dating sim or sex game by any means since it contains zero nudity or sex scenes!
